Job Description
The Director of Group Sales will be responsible for coordinating, training, and supervising the sales team in all sales-related activities. You'll assist in the creation of strategies and the direct oversight of the execution of plans and tactics used to focus on increasing direct revenue for the property. You'll also be responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel's performance in the marketplace.
What you'll do… Direct and manage all group sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotelPrepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly SMART goals, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/requiredCollaborate with the Revenue team to develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix managementRecruit, direct, manage, train and counsel sales staff.Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights lawsParticipate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetingsConduct and attend business review meetings, strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requestedRepresent the hotel in community and industry organizations and eventsParticipate as team player with other key leadership membersBe a leader and role model to all team membersSupervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales DepartmentDevelop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotelDevelop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP's, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales teamDevelop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategiesMeet or exceed established goalsOperate the sales department within established sales expense budgetCoordinate group and transient bookings to maximize profitsInitiate and follow up on leadsMonitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within said market. Ensure sales team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territoriesCoordinate all non-group transient sales solicitations to maximize market mixAdminister training in the Sales departmentAssist in the preparation of required reports in a timely mannerConduct weekly sales meetings and daily line upsReview meeting planner evaluations as received to ensure that any problems are rectifiedDevising or modifying procedures to solve process problems that will result in more efficient operationsAny other reasonable duties as assigned.We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.
Qualifications
What we're looking for... Bachelor's Degree preferredMinimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required, preferably in an upscale and/or lifestyle brand hotel or luxury resortMust have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage, catering sales, conference service and marketing management experience, guest relations and etiquetteExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
