This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Role Purpose:Develops and facilitates implementation of environmental, safety and Hygiene strategies to minimize risk and to ensure environmental, safety and Hygiene compliance with applicable regulatory, certifications and corporate Environmental, Safety and Hygiene requirements. Key point of contact for all safety, Hygiene, and environmental systems and related activity. Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety, Hygiene, and environmental systems, including establishing a "culture of safety."Key Responsibilities:Direct and guide the implementation of the environmental, safety (ISO 1400, ISO45001 system) and Hygiene management systems. Execute responsibilities as defined in the facility Environmental Management System (EMS) and the Safety Management System (SMS).Support safety and Hygiene risk assessments and environmental assessments and resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate and control unsafe conditions and acts and prevent non-compliant environmental conditions and acts.Lead or facilitate root cause analysis when near misses, injuries, illnesses or non-compliance events/situations occur.Facilitate assignment and communication of responsibility for all aspects of both the SMS, (including the year-specific safety and Hygiene plan) and the EMS (including its objectives) so that managers, supervisors, and employees know what performance is expected of them. Develop measures for performance outcomes.Facilitate management evaluation of the year-specific safety and Hygiene plan and EMS objectives to ensure that they are effective and appropriate for workplace and business conditions. Revise the plans and objectives in a timely manner to correct any deficiencies identified by the plan and objective evaluations.Provide direction for internal employees ranging from management to operations, contractors, suppliers and others to maintain safety and Hygiene and environmental compliance.Review projects, plans, specifications, and purchases to verify that environmental and safety and Hygiene issues are addressed in a proactive manner.Ensure, in conjunction with management, that safety and Hygiene responsibilities are assigned as appropriate to knowledgeable and capable employees (Subject Matter Experts for instance).Respond to new environmental, safety and Hygiene information (i.e. government regulations, industry standards or corporate guidance) or a change in the workplace that indicates a new or increased hazard or environmental concern may be present.Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental and safety and Hygiene (accident, loss, and exposure) statistical data.Work with management to set short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals for environmental and safety and Hygiene improvements. Safety and Hygiene goals should include suitable reductions in injury and illness rates.
