Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as an eHW Mechanical Design Supervisor at our MPEC Technical Center in San Luis Potosi. In this role, the eHW Mechanical Design Supervisor will be primarily responsible for managing a team of Mechanical Design Engineers, specifically for use in power electronics applications. They will be expected to oversee the technical execution of their team and deliver to the project timeline and objectives. They will ensure that BorgWarner's Mechanical Design Hardware products are properly specified, designed and tested to meet customer performance requirements.
Key responsibilities Technical oversight of Mechanical Hardware Design Engineers.Plan, direct, and coordinate efforts of the ME power electronics team to meet internal and external customer requirements.Help deliver ME design work products and launch final product.Manage and prioritize the workload of the team and related resources. Maintain visibility of workload to ME engineering organization.Propose/Define/Review Engineer's Career plan during Engineering Development Cycle Processes. Able to plan and follow up employee personal and global goals.Matching of team's career growth needs, with the available training and job-assignment opportunities.Recruitment of new ME employees and retention of existing.Create standard work processes, and design templates & guidelines for ME power components.Communicate and deploy ME safe work procedures.Ensure that team resources, skills and knowledge are available to meet project needs.Review and resolve priority task conflicts within the team.Provide a first line of escalation for competency and resource team issues.Facilitate clear and open communication within the team.Be a technical leader in the competency development field.Define, develop and maintain technical guidance documentation for development roles within the group.What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required. Preferable master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar.Minimum 8+ years electronics engineering experience required with a minimum of 5 years specific to Mechanical hardware design.Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.Automotive experience strongly preferred.Familiar with requirements gathering and management tools such as Polarion and JIRA.Experience of working within an ASPICE based process environment (or similar).Excellent soft skills and highly exposed to teamwork.Determines best techniques/procedures and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.Documents and shares best practices.Mentors the less experienced; role model for BW Beliefs.Works under minimal supervision.Willingness/ability to travel 10% both domestically and internationally.Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.Preferable Electric motor system experience.Team Guidance for Mechanical Analysis and Verification.High skilled in: Tolerance Stack, Thermal Shock, Thermal Management and Vibration Capability.Analytical thinking supervisor.Hands-on Mechanical Design 3D Software.Highly experienced in Product Lifecycle Management.What we believe Inclusion - We value diversity in people, ideas, and experiences.Integrity - We believe in transparency, authenticity, and depend on each other to deliver what we promise.Excellence - We contribute to our developments by seeking knowledge and sharing information.Responsibility - We care about our local communities and the global environment.Collaboration - We are one BorgWarner.Safety This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the local BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.
