Job Description: Summary of the position: The Quality Engineer role contributes to the success of the Quality Engineering team, extended program team, and the business. He/She will interface directly with customers to carry out inspection plans. This individual will engage in data-driven improvement and sustainment initiatives. He/She will design, write, implement, evaluate, and revise quality assurance procedures, statistical sampling techniques, quality plans, inspection and testing techniques and specifications. He/She will also be responsible, independently or as part of a team, to provide thorough and practical solutions to technical problems through the application of Lean, Green Belt, and quality engineering tools.
Requirements & skills:
- Bachelor's Degree (Engineering preferred).
- Must possess 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience or a combination of 5+ years high pace manufacturing engineer experience.
- Interface effectively and successfully with customers to discuss and negotiate quality requirements and specifications.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as Six Sigma, 8D, and 5 Why.
- Candidates with Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience is desired.
- Familiar with: Connector Specification, MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-83723, EN2997, & ESC10, and Qualification Requirements a plus.
- MRB Coordination / Same Day Containment / Root Cause Support.
- Customer Concerns Support / Root Cause Analysis / Response as assigned.
- First Article Inspection Reviews / Sign-off / completion.
- Lean Manufacturing and Green Belt certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with mechanical inspection and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Strong time and project management agility to juggle multiple priorities.
- A self-starter, with the ability to thrive within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work effectively across functional groups.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Main responsibilities:
- Perform quality engineering functions for specific phases of projects and programs to develop plans, flow charts, inspection methods, procedures and standards, including FAI, detailed instructions, check lists, sampling plans, classification of defects, etc.; to assure all products, data or services meet specified quality requirements.
- Lead and implement the FAI requirements as per customer specification, finalize documentation and present/submit to the customer during product transfers.
- Ensure that customer requirements are incorporated into product functional specifications and lead risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) to ensure functional specification requirements are fully met during process/design validation with suppliers.
- Determine and approve inspection methods and ensure that the audits carried out meet the specifications required by the clients.
- Generation of CoA and CoC documentation.
- Assist in implementing and follow-up of systematic corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) by reviewing adequacy of root cause analysis, corrections, corrective actions, preventive actions and effectiveness.
- Coordinate the validation activities of measurement systems used to measure critical, special or significant product or process characteristics.
- Participate in compliance audits, customer audits, and vendor audits; conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System.
- Assist in the vendor qualification and evaluation program; audit and collaborate with critical suppliers to develop and maintain raw material specifications, material traceability and ongoing compliance standards.
- Establish acceptance and rejection criteria for the processes and products under your responsibility (first samples, pilot tests, etc.) based on manufacturing standards and customer requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and approval of process or product deviations, as well as obtaining customer approval for them when required.
- Develop, maintain and report internal quality metrics and trend analyses to management such as but not limited to: Waivers, CAPA, customer Complaints, and Non-conforming material.
- Generation and communication of quality alerts for reported customer problems.
- Initiate actions that prevent the occurrence of discrepancies related to the product, the process, and the Quality system, including stopping production when required.
- Implement, interpret, analyze, and utilize metrics toward process improvement activity.
- Interpret and flow down customer quality requirements to engineering, manufacturing, and inspection.
- Return Material Analysis / MRB to determine root cause and apply effective corrective actions. Ensure prompt disposition of returns to ensure customer service is supported.
