.An Electrical Design Engineer (EDE) at Sensata is responsible for electrical schematic design, product development/validation, and thorough documentation according to automotive development process (APQP) and industry safety standards (ISO26262 & OBDII). Tasks include electrical design and validation testing to ensure product performance throughout product life while exposed to harsh automotive environment such as extreme temperatures, EMC/EMI and other electrical/mechanical/chemical/climatic stresses.- BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or other electronics-based scientific degree- Minimum of two years electrical design experience, specifically:- EDEs own the schematic design of circuits, so electrical fundamentals (filters, amplifiers, diodes, passives circuits) are essential- Product validation testing- Concept-to-production lifecycle- The ability to translate customer requirements into reliable electrical designs- Familiarity with common product design methodologies (DFSS, DFMEA, etc.)- Experience with sensor interfaces and signal conditioning- Design for EMC/EMI & ESD robustness- Familiarity with PCB design process such as schematic & layout capture software, fabrication, assembly- Familiarity with common testing specifications (SAE, ISO, CE, UL, etc.)- Software skills: such as C/C++, Matlab, VBA, Labview for automation and data processing- Hands on attitude with the ability to operate standard electrical test equipment- Strong project management and product development skills including- Estimating timelines and understanding design activity dependencies- Design to cost- A history of on-time and on-budget product validation- Documentation- Responsibilities also include regular customer interface as well as ownership of program budget, product unit cost, delivery time, manufacturability and post-release activities- Qualities- Comfortable managing several ongoing design activities in different stages of development- The ability to work autonomously with mínimal guidance- Pride/ownership of designs and work products- Strong interpersonal and communications skills are key to attributes in Sensata's cross functional and global team environment - we work together to solve problems, both internally and with customers.- Travel Requirements:- Occasional (< 10% both domestic and international) to work with suppliers, customers, manufacturing sites, and other design sites.Our employees are the reason we have been successful in the past and the reason we will be successful in the future.
