**Responsibilities**
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Transmission Line Design, is responsible for the preparation of engineering designs and construction specifications, procurement of construction materials and/or services by contractors and the inspection and compliance of the assigned transmission line projects
- Designs high voltage transmission lines and assures compliance with NESC standards and mechanical loading specifications for construction by Company line crews and/or independent contractors
- Performs research, field work, construction specifications, map preparation and material scheduling for the construction of the project
- Prepares bid specifications and/or contracts for the procurement of materials and services, prepares award recommendation on bids and proposals from vendors and monitors services of vendors and contractors for compliance with specifications and contract terms
- Performs field inspections and provides engineering with short and long-term recommendations to resolve structural and/or electrical problems that may arise during and after the construction
- Maintains and monitors actual versus estimated costs for materials and services of project
- Responsible for the procurement and expedient delivery of materials needed for project
- Reviews invoices for materials and services and makes recommendations for payment
- Calculates the electric and magnetic field effects and impedance values for the existing proposed transmission lines for Company engineering use and provides loading information for tie point coordination
- Calculates all mechanical parameters of wood, steel and concrete transmission structures, such as deflections, buckling, and moments
- Provides supervisor with capital budget estimates for assigned projects
- Performs procurement of right-of-way easements for transmission facility as required
- Valid driver's license and be in compliance with the Company's Driving Program policy
- Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations
- Perform other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties define
**Qualifications**
- Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate with or without a reasonable accommodation that the essential functions of the job can be performed
- Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 0-3 years or more experience required
- Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code as it pertains to transmission line facilities, preparation of structure design, construction specification and applicable standards, and project estimating and scheduling
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public
- Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters
- May require out of town travel using air travel as required
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
**Salary**: $1,206,000.00 - $1,872,000.00 per year
