The Product Design Engineer is responsible for the entire accessory product development process from program start through production launch which includes sourcing, design, development, testing and manufacturing.**Position qualifications & experience requirements**:Basic Qualifications:- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar- 2+ years of experience with design and release engineeringPreferred Qualifications:- Electrical product design, electrical systems, or wiring design experience- Proficiency in CAD/Teamcenter and/or schematic design software- Review and understand vehicle content assigned to a program per the Program Direction Offer (PDO)- Capable of identifying product content in vehicle CAD environment, building CAD buck environment.Technical aptitude, desire to learn electrical test tools and technologiesDISCLAIMERFord Motor Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, as we are committed with a diverse workforce, and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran and basis of disability.**Major responsibilities**:- Develop state of the art electrical accessories in Lighting/optics, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS, Cameras), Vehicle Access/Entry and Start (Wireless keypad, Remote Start), Trailer Features, and other product areas.- Research internal Ford technologies and integrate these technologies into the development of new accessories.- Design wire harness and accessory vehicle interface connections- Interface with EESE (Electrical Systems Engineering) engineers for systems engineering, wiring, fusing and other specifications- Develop core engineering foundation documents (FMA, Boundary Diagrams, Interface Diagrams, DFMEAs, Robustness Check Lists, SCCAF)- Develop and execute design verification plans (DVPs), engineering deliverables and provide engineering sign-off- Release parts using WERS and provide final engineering sign-off documentation- Interface with suppliers, planning, program management, vehicle programs, vehicle operations- Investigate and develop ideas for new product offerings- Support Dealer Service questions on electrical accessories.- Work with Supplier and/or FEDE Core team to support and develop design rules, requirements, and core foundation documents (Boundary Diagrams, Interface Listings, P-Diagrams, DFMEA's, Robustness Check Lists, SCCAF- Perform Carryover Assessments for electrical products- Develop accessory instructions and support vehicle fitment validation with local team.- Coordinate and complete Cost, Feasibility, and Timing (CFT) for all platforms.
