The Sr. ECU Electrical Design Engineer will design and develop electronic control units (ECU) for the automotive market.
These ECUs control combustion engines, transmissions, drivetrains, battery monitors, and electric motors for commercial and passenger vehicles.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop ECUs that comply with all customer requirements, BorgWarner standards, industry standards, and government regulations.Design and analyze circuits used in the ECU following the BorgWarner design process.Collaborate with the customer to ensure ECU compliance with requirements.Collaborate with all BorgWarner engineering disciplines and project management to achieve design objectives, manufacturability, project timing and cost targets.Create the ECU schematic, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.Lead and direct development of the circuit board layout.Lead and support internal and external design reviews, DFMEA reviews, and functional safety assessments.Define new components, support component engineering and purchasing in sourcing and qualification.Create performance documentation based on worst case analysis for all ECU electrical functions.Create test plans and test methods that will confirm compliance to all requirements.Test the ECU to ensure that it complies with the performance documentation.Support production builds at global assembly plants.Troubleshoot failures to the component level, determine short term containment, determine root cause and permanent corrective action.What We're Looking ForBSEE, BSEET, or MSEE degree.2+ years of engineering experience with microprocessor-based systems (automotive experience preferred); however, preference will be given to those with 5+ years' experience.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to comprehend requirements documentation.Ability to develop solutions that comply with the requirements.Simulation and Analysis experience (Mathcad and Saber preferred).Effective use of lab test equipment.Self-motivated
