About the role Carrier is seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems Engineer to work with a team of engineers responsible for developing embedded solutions that drive the Carrier HVAC equipment controls and smart, cloud-connected thermostats.

Key Responsibilities: As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for: Working closely with marketing and customers to define requirements for HVAC systems.
Executing the role of a systems engineer in the product development processes Working closely with hardware, firmware, software, validation/reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams.
Assisting in decisions on tradeoffs in product design between hardware and firmware/software.
Capturing requirements, write specifications, define test plans for system verification and validation.
Providing input to project planning process (e.g., estimates for project plan tasks, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, expenses, etc.)
Participating in software DFMEAs.
Contributing to sustaining and new product development projects.
Documenting systems and functional requirements.
Helping define the systems architecture for new products.
Developing systems-level test cases/plans.
Participating in risk identification reviews.
Demonstrating the ability to work within a project team.
Requirements We are looking for people who are responsible, punctual and independent.

As a minimum you must have: BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Controls Engineering 5+ years of systems engineering experience with embedded products.
Experience providing systems engineering support in a cross-competency environment.
Experience in participating in DFMEAs.
Experience in the use of IBM DOORS, JIRA/Confluence, or AZURE Dev Ops.
Experience with requirements capture/definition.
Experience with various wireless protocols (Wifi, BLE, Zigbee/CHIP, Zwave, etc.).
Understanding of C and C++ programming languages.
Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
Ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes.
Understanding of digital and analog electronic products.
Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have: Understanding of 8, 16, and 32 Microcontrollers (a plus).
Controls Systems/Algorithm Design experience (a plus).
MATLAB/Simulink, LabView (a plus).
