.Job DescriptionThe primary job function of the Welding Engineer will support production welding processes by providing knowledge on industry best practices and a keen eye for continuous improvement.
This position will also be responsible for the start-up and debug of machine tool equipment.
The Welding Engineer will coordinate the management of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, standardization of SMP, SOP, Machine Ledger, and AM calendars documents of your technology.
Inventory management will ensure that spare parts are available, maintain and audit correct compliance with maintenance activities, and manage the welding matrix to ensure processes and any changes are correctly updated to eliminate variation between amp sheets and the process.ResponsibilitiesProvide welding engineering support to production.Develop and implement advanced welding processes including Laser, MIG/TIG, Orbital, and Braze.Make fixture adjustments required to meet product dimensional targets.Implement weld program changes as required to maintain an acceptable level of weld performance.Provide innovative, technically significant, and economically important material and welding solutions in support of manufacturing design.Implement weld certification (quality) strategy during launch and product or process change events.Work with cross-functional teams to develop quality documentation such as SCCAF, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans (DCP).Collaborate with plant personnel and skilled trades to plan equipment installations and develop prove-out plans to ensure equipment is ready for production.Analyze machine vision inspection results and adjust laser controller parameters.Analyze product failure data related to welds in order to determine causes of problems and develop solutions.Use welding system monitoring data for the evaluation of process quality control.Train all skilled trades for manual, semi-automatic, and robotic welding-related activities.Train and help lead Weld Techs.Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting.Perform NC programming and troubleshooting.Interact with other engineering support and maintenance to react to unscheduled equipment issues and perform necessary diagnostics and repairs.Provide preventive and corrective maintenance on automated processes.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, or Electromechanics.Proficiency in communicating in technical English with highly developed communication skills.Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in Welding Processes, MIG, TIG manual, and automatic equipment.Thorough knowledge of robotic integration and engineering with Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, or others.MIG Welding and TIG welding experience in fine-tuning and adjusting parameters.Prior experience with software such as Lincoln, Weld Spun, WTC.Trained and experienced in problem-solving methods like Kaizen, Shainin (Red-X), RPS
