Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role PurposeThe NPI & CNC Programming Engineer will be responsible for the programming, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting of CAM Software to effectively create CNC Programs/Nestings with the correct sequence for machine operations. This position must maintain a centralized program database and detailed records on all CNC Programs/Nestings, Tool Inventory, and current CAM Software Technologies. The engineer must ensure that CNC programs and processes are developed with minimal human interaction, providing optimal quality results. This role requires a strong technical background (Cutting, Bending, Polishing, Painting) along with project management experience and a continuous improvement mindset. The NPI & CNC Programming Engineer must be able to work independently and as part of a team to identify and deliver thoroughly tested CNC machining solutions. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating customers' new product or process development programs by providing technical guidance or assessment in the design, development, assembly, or test engineering disciplines within Product & Technology Engineering, ensuring alignment of NPI with current process capacity & capabilities. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport & improve CNC machining processes efficiency that meet customer specifications.Read & understand CAD mechanical drawings.Coordinate hands-on prototype validation through all fab shop processes, including cutting (punch and laser cut), bending, welding, and painting.Collaborate with PE & Technology areas to ensure quality NPI releases.Experience with hand tools, machine tools, and use of semi-automated and automated manufacturing equipment is necessary
