Eaton's AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Engineering Manager.
**What you'll do**:
This position is responsible for effective leadership, administration, and professional direction of the site's engineering team. This individual will be responsible for short and long-range new product development, new product introduction and improve cost for existing product lines through sound execution of engineering principles and processes. The position also coordinates support to and from division and group Advanced Manufacturing beyond the immediate site. Accountabilities under this individual's direction are Engineering Production, New Product Development, and Standard Transition of product from other sites.
Essential Functions:
Lead an engineering department to deliver high quality technical output on time. Provide technical advice and guidance to this team; create opportunities for growth and development. Develop culture and grow employee satisfaction, product expertise, etc.
Develop organizational capability/capacity and engineering/technical skills among staff to support the site and division strategies and initiatives. Maintain appropriate training programs to assure continuous learning.
Develop capability for improved engineering techniques that add value to our products. Develop practices for documented technical standards around best practices and using lessons learned.
Develop and implement processes and tools for engineering tasks consistent with industry best practices. Monitor to assure adherence to defined processes.
Continuous improvement of resource management, productivity, and first-pass yield. Use of tools including Design for Six Sigma to achieve that end. Budgeting and resource planning. Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance, and implement improvements accordingly
Participate in the objective planning process for the site; maintain site strategic product and technology roadmaps, CAPEX planning and lead innovations processes supporting those plans.
Participate in group Advanced Manufacturing Engineering leadership team. Ensure that potential synergies between the site and other divisional, group, and global engineering sites are identified.
Utilize ProLaunch tools such as STP, NPD, and NPI to successfully develop, introduce and transfer product to site.
Lead the sites Engineering Council with a structured agenda and project plan to develop and coach the engineering organization at the site.
**Qualifications**:
Basic qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years of direct MOP (manager of people) experience
- BS Degree in Mechanical, Systems, or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited institution required
- Experience supporting product development and sustainment programs required
- Bilingual English/ Spanish
- Detail Oriented
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication presentation skills and the ability to work well with customers and development team members
- Strong project management skills
- Stay abreast of industry technology trends and act as the organizational liaison to universities and industry organizations accordingly
- Team player - results oriented
- Preferred Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position):
- Experience Lean and Six Sigma Trainer and mentor
- Previous Aerospace experience preferred.
