The Facility Welding Engineer is a functional position that is required by 1E0099 Arc Welding specification for all fabrication facilities. This role is essential in maintaining the required quality level in welded structures and components. This role can be filled as part of the responsibilities of a supervisor/manager or it can be a focused position. In a focused position, it may be the coordinator for multiple locations while acting as Facility Welding Engineer.**JOB DUTIES**:This position is the Process Owner of the Facility Weld Quality Plan. Responsible to complete and maintain all aspect of the weld quality plan including welder, weld process, weld equipment, and welding materials qualifications to Caterpillar standards. Responsible to see that the welding procedure database as well as a database for welder qualifications are maintained and up to date. Makes the final determination on additional training and qualification of welders who have been identified as having quality concerns. Maintains a scorecard on Weld Quality Plan implementation and reports progress and issues to the facility management team as stakeholders in the process.Supervises a group of welding technicians, welding engineers, and/or robotics engineers in the support of the listed job duties. Must be a good communicator and possess leadership skills commensurate with the position.- Acts as liaison between engineering and manufacturing on welding related issues. Serves on or designates a delegate for all NPI teams. Attends all NPI gate reviews.- Liaison with fabrication suppliers on welding related issues to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.- Works with Product Support to assist with Field Repair Procedures.- Coordinates the implementation of new technology in the facility. Provides the VOC to new technology developers. Develops individual presentations on all integration projects and prepares and establishes priorities for cost effectiveness. Performs liaison duties with various functional areas to promote smooth transition.- Conduct and/or review welding related failure analysis.- Represents the facility on enterprise initiatives such as: Synergy teams, Manufacturing practice & Engineering Specification reviews, Common Weld Quality Plan team, etc
