If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you.Role SummaryThe Financial Accountant supports the financial accounting team with general ledger accounting functions by preparing journal entries, analyzing general ledger account reconciliations, and posting entries of accounts receivable. This individual contributor role supports financial accounting activities for Alaska Airlines (AS), by performing technical research, preparing technical accounting memos, and owning complex reconciliations and journal entries.Key DutiesSupports the financial accounting teams with general ledger accounting functions.Prepare answers to government requests.Issuing invoices for customers, travel agencies, and global invoices for VAT purposes.Supports project plans in areas such as integration projects, new accounting standard implementation efforts, and other ad hoc projects.Records journal entries for assigned functional areas on a monthly basis.Record Agency Debit Memo and Agency Credit Memo to travel agencies.Provides efficient and accurate reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.Prepare Cargo Reconciliation.Assists in the preparation of monthly closing packages for all entities.Support accounts receivables and/or payables area with reports and files as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.Job-Specific Experience, Education & SkillsRequired:2 years of corporate accounting experience.Bachelor of Accounting or a Bachelor of Finance or relevant area, or two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.Strong understanding of accounting theory and practices.Demonstrates technical knowledge of accounting procedures and a strong understanding of GAAP.Advanced Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel.Analytical skills.Organization and time management skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction.Business English communication skills.Must be authorized to work in Mexico.Ability to work under pressure at critical moments.High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum age of 18.Preferred:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.PeopleSoft experience.Working knowledge of General Ledger Accounting.Experience with internal controls.Knowledge of accounts receivable in the airline industry.Auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts
