Job Summary
Vertiv is seeking aFirmware Engineerto support our gateway and embedded application platforms. This person will provide technical expertise in the development and support of multiple Linux-based and real-time platforms. The candidate should possess broad and deep knowledge in various technologies such as networking, communications, kernel drivers, and security.
Responsibilities: Requirements analysis: Requirements gathering, use case analysis, device and application prototyping, customer/customer-liaison engagement.Project management: Project planning, task estimation, software metrics collection, version controlFull lifecycle software application development: Design, programming, debugging, peer review, unit testing, performance tuning, integrationDocumentation: Program commentary, user guides for service and troubleshootingProduct testing: Unit testing, bench testing, system integration testing, and field test supportLeadership: Effective team member and/or lead engineer, consistent positive attitude, creativityHardware development support: Software support for hardware development and testingOther tasks and activities as required by management.Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent with strong emphasis on software: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering3+ years of experience in a firmware development role3+ years of experience in software development for Linux-based platforms3+ years of experience using the C/C++ programming language.Expertise with software programming languages, frameworks, and subsystems including but not limited to:C++, C, C#, JavaScript, Python, Go, Perl, ShellLinux kernel, device drivers, filesystems, networking, serial communications, real-time operating systems (RTOS), bare metalInfrastructure and application development experience using technologies and architectures such as:IP networking: TCP, UDP, TLS, DNSSerial communications: RS232/485, CAN, USBProtocols: ModBus, BACnet, SNMP, CANOpenPlatforms: ARM, x86, SoCFamiliarity with software development environments and tools:Integrated platforms like Eclipse, CodeWarrior, Visual StudioSource code version control: GitWireShark, Docker, Jenkins, VirtualBox, VMWare, BitBake, YoctoCMakeGNU Compiler and GDBIAR CompilerDebugging with ARM JTAG/SWDAdditional, highly sought but not required.Embedded systems experience with control applications.HVAC experienceQt experienceExperience integrating unit testing w/ CI/CD pipelines.About Vertiv Vertiv is a $6.8 billion global critical infrastructure and data center technology company.
