The Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting activities across the Accounting organization including the preparation of monthly accounting records as well as related reporting, analytical activities and initiatives.General ResponsibilitiesPrepare and enter journal entriesResponsible for performing balance sheet reconciliationsFollow the company's chart of accountsSupport month-end and year-end close processApply research and analytical skills to analyze current financial status, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reportsRecommend financial actions by analyzing accounting optionsIdentify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spendingReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures, liaising with management and cross-functional stakeholdersPrepare financial statements and supplemental schedulesDevelop and document business processes ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controlsComply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actionsPrepare special financial reports as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trendsExperience / QualificationsA university degree required (i.E.
