Allocates resources in order to accomplish these goalsOversees maintenance programSupervises engine crew and coordinates daily engine operation and equipment repairsMaintains all dredge and supporting equipment in operating condition and ensures repairs are made by crew or outside source on a timely basis Tracks daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports and inspections.Maintain records of repairsMaintains inventory of and orders spare partsTracks and orders fuel, oil, and waterMonitors all mechanical and electrical components on the dredge and scowsEnforces safety rules and regulationsEnforces U.S.C.G. rules and regulationsReviews performanceInitiates corrective and preventive actions to ensure goals are metSupervisory Responsibilities:Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise all employees in the Engine Room. He is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include involvement in the process of interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems that relates directly to the engineering aspect of dredging projects in the company.Job Requirement: Education and/or Experience:A Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree, or Associate of Science in Mechanical/Electrical curriculum from a vocational school and/or ten (10) years plus as an Assistant Chief on a cutter suction dredge or equivalent experience on a ship or marine power plant.Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English is a must, other languages an added advantage.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in English.Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:U.S.C.G. issued Chief Engineer's licenseU.S.C.G. issued P.I.C.
