**Position Purpose**
General Accountant is responsible of assuring, reviewing and reconciliating general ledger (GL) transactions and recordings for US and MX books validating that the recordings and calculations are made accordingly to both countries accounting rules.
**Primary Accountabilities**
- Prepares reconciliations of the asset and liabilities mainly for cash accounts from current accounting period to last period / year reconciling the General Ledger balances with support documentation. This includes but not limited to accruals, banks and cash, sales, travel, payroll and fixed assets.
- Prepares financial information for US and MX Statutory closing. Stay in constant communication with peers in US corporate office to attend any question and solve small questions arising. Follow up US and MX end of period accounting closure and GL records reviews, updates, reconciliations and changes
- Handles the conciliations of the general ledger (GL), mainly advance payments and accruals for Mexico companies. Analyzes and explains the variances, between Plan and Real of the accounts in the Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
- Creates and elaborates accounting procedures and internal controls as required to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and timely in both general ledger systems and supports on internal and external audit for US and MEX GAAP.
- Assists with any special projects required by supervisor, manager or other related areas and verifies new procedures, automations, new financial IT tools and systems implementations when applicable.
**Education & Experience**
Level of Formal Education: A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent.
Area of Study: Accounting
Years of Experience: One to two years.
Type of Experience: General accounting, Treasury, Accounts receivable/payable.
Special Certifications or Technical Skills: MS Office knowledge
Other/Preferred: Intermediate to advanced computer and english skills. Strong internal customer focus and communication skills, detail oriented, analytical and ability to get results through collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
