**Main purpose of job**:
Be a key part of the Department for International Trade (DIT) Team within the British Embassy in Mexico.
Lead the trade campaigns for the Food & Drink and AgriTech.
Develop business opportunities throughout Mexico for UK companies in Food & Drink and AgriTech.
Take ownership of the overall success of the ongoing UK E-Store platform.
The UK's Food & Drink sector is integral to the Export strategy: Made in the UK, Sold to the World.
As Head of this thriving sector for the DIT team in Mexico you will proactively identify opportunities across Mexico for market ready UK SMEs to achieve new business.
You will work closely with the Head of Retail In Mexico to ensure there is an open approach to incorporating UK Retail related companies to the UK E-Store.
For market access, you will help develop and support implementation of plans with the Embassy trade policy team, Agricultural Attaché and industry representatives to break down market barriers by working with the relevant Mexican authorities.
You will be a part of the wider DIT Latin American and the Caribbean (LATAC) Regional Team providing key account management within the region in addition to providing strategic advice and assistance to companies ready to grow across the region.
This is a fascinating and busy role allowing someone passionate in business development to work in a great diplomatic mission at an exciting period for the UK/Latin America Trade and Investment relationship.
**Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve.

**Lead the Mexico campaign for Food & Drink (50%)**
Provide Strategic leadership to the campaign ensuring alignment with country and regional strategies, with a focus on quality pipeline diversification and delivery of outcomes across Mexico.
Vital to this role will be informing and influencing new UK SMEs to win new business whilst maintaining support for UK companies already established to increase their presence in market.
Through robust account management, proactively build relationships with key local buyers and importers of UK goods.
Co-create and implement high impact, targeted marketing programs and events in conjunction with pipeline companies to build their brand awareness, promote key messaging, and showcase UK high quality offer across the sector.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders in DIT HQ and relevant UK sectoral business organisations.
Identify market access barriers for UK food and drink products.
Support implementation of plans with the Embassy trade policy team, Agricultural Attaché and industry representatives to break down market barriers by working with the relevant Mexican authorities.
**Lead the regional Latin America & Caribbean Campaign for Food and Drink (20%)**
Provide Strategic leadership to the campaign ensuring alignment with country and regional strategies, with a focus on quality and delivery of outcomes across the region.
Coordinate activity across the country teams participating in the regional campaign to ensure export KPIs remain on course resulting in new business success for UK wide companies from SMEs to those globally competitive.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders in DIT HQ and relevant UK sectoral business organisations.
**Evolve the Mexico UK E-Store (10%)**
In partnership with a leading local importer of UK goods, a UK E-Store has been progressing in presence and number of participating UK companies.
Design promotional activities to execute in collaboration with Embassy marketing and communications colleagues.
Keep pace with market trends, in Mexico and the UK to identify commercial opportunities and attract new UK companies to market.
Provide strategic leadership to identify and develop business opportunities for UK companies with the E-Store acting as strategic first step option to enter the market.
**Lead the Mexico campaign in AgriTech (15%)**
Provide strategic leadership to identify and develop business opportunities for UK companies in this sector.
Pay particular focus to sustainable solutions from UK innovative AgriTech companies to advance the teams' cross sectoral Clean Growth targets.
Identify market access barriers for UK AgriTech products (eg genetic material, live animals).
Develop and implement plans with the Embassy trade policy team, Agricultural Attaché and industry representatives to unblock these barriers via the relevant Mexican authorities.
**Manage the team responsible for the Food & Drink and AgriTech trade campaigns in line with Embassy values, contributing to the overall Embassy corporate objectives and ensure good financial, project and procurement management (5%)**
Effective line management of 1 x Trade Officer (A2 grade) and oversight of an intern, through SMART objectives, uptake of L&D opportunities and high quality appraisals.
