**About the job**
RHI Magnesita is looking for a dynamic Head of People and Culture in Mexico. As the Head of Human Resources for Mexico you will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions, driving people strategies, and fostering a positive work culture. Your role will be critical in aligning HR practices with business objectives, supporting organizational growth, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
**Tasks will include**:
- **Mentorship and Coaching**: This role oversees two Human Resource Generalists.
Ensures each Human Resource Generalist is supporting the business needs by providing mentorship and guidance to a diverse, high-performing team, focused on achieving goals and fostering long-term growth. This role involves setting objectives, providing training, ensuring resource availability, and creating a positive, innovative team culture.
- **HR Strategy and Planning**: Develop and execute HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the company's vision, mission, and business goals and ensure consistency and integration of HR practices.
- **Change Management**: Support organizational change initiatives by providing guidance, communication, and support to your team. Be a change agent to drive change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions and minimize disruptions.
- **Employee Relations and Engagement**: Promote a positive work environment by fostering strong employee relations, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives. Develop and implement programs to enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and overall well-being.
- **Compensation and Benefits**: Oversee the design and implementation of competitive compensation and benefits programs in line with market trends, labor regulations, and company budget. Ensure equity and fairness in pay practices, job evaluations, and performance-based incentives.
- **Learning and Development**: Drive the learning and development strategy to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and competencies. Identify training needs, develop training programs, and foster a learning culture within the organization.
- **Compliance and Labor Relations**: Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and local employment practices in Mexico. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on labor-related matters. Build positive relationships with labor unions or employee representative bodies when applicable.
- **HR Policies and Procedures**: Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal compliance across the organization. Regularly review and update HR policies to align with changing regulations and best practices.
- **Employee Data and Reporting**: Oversee employee data management, HRIS systems, and reporting processes to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and timely reporting of HR metrics. Generate HR reports and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- **Legal Issues**: Coordinate with legal counsel on legal problems, lawsuits, and compliance issues.
- **Benefits**: Act as a chairman on benefits and pension committees. Oversee the annual pension audits and submission to the proper governmental authorities.
- **Budgets**: Prepares, secures approval for, and implements operating and expenditure budgets for the HR department for Mexico and operates within those guidelines.
- **Administrative**: Approve employee expense reports, and ensure that the proper receipts are attached, and approve time off requests.
- **Union Workers**:Direct talks with the union in the revision of the collective bargaining agreement and salary increases according to salary and wage budget and avoid any labor problem.
- **Government Agencies**: Be in contact with authorities to solve and avoid labor and other legal issues with the company. Coordinate legal changes and legal issues.
- **Power of attorney**:Legal Representative of the companies in Mexico
- **Mergers and Acquisitions**: Support with analysis on the people side of potential mergers and acquisitions. Handle the people onboarding and change management of any acquisitions.
**About you**
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree in Labor Law is an advantage.
- Significant experience in HR leadership roles with a focus on Mexico or Latin America, preferably within the refractory industry or a similar manufacturing sector
- Thorough knowledge of Mexican labor laws, regulations, and employment practices.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, trends, and evolving HR landscape.
- Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
- Familiarity with compensation and benefits practices in Mexico, including market benchmarking and pay equity.
