**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**Position Summary**:
Under supervisión of the HSE Manager, the HSE Engineer is responsable for assisting the hardware and controls team in incorporating safety standards and machine safety requirements in all installations, as well supports, instructs and trains company personnel on safety policies, procedures.
HSE Engineer will manage safety validation activities, define safety requirements for systems replicable at a global level and collaborate with the entrie design team in the development of effective solutions for our internal customers. Support and perform ergonomic & risk assessments at the system, hardware and software level.
This position is considered critical for legal compliance, safety and employee health.
**Essential Functions**:
- Designs, installs, and programs safety devices on legacy stations
- Supports field safety testing activities and performs HSE validation of new equipment and technologies
- Collaborates with design engineers, project managers, development team, integrators and customers on technical aspects of functional safety
- Develops policies, interpret regulatory codes, safety standards, training and procedures for new, next generation automation technologies-4T
- Advises engineering and operations teams on HSE regulations and regulatory compliance concerns relating to process and equipment design
- Maintains safety devices according to an annual plan defined by the Maintenance Planner
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Executes purchasing of safety devices and other related components
**Management and Supervisory Responsibilities**:
- This position is not directly responsable for managing other employees (e.g. hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)
- **Knowledge**:
- Degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronic engineering or a related technical field
- Machine Guarding and Safety ISO 12100 & ISO13849
- Working knowledge and experience in ISO14001, STPS, SEMARNAT, Mexican and US regulations
- Strong knowledge in HSE Best Management Practices
- Strong knowledge in HSE Management Systems
- Mexico/USA/Canada safety standards, certification process knowledge and field experience (e.g. with NTRLs, ISOs CMSE, etc.)
- Strong knowledge in Safety
- Basic knowledge in Environmental
- Basic Industrial Hygiene Practices
- Regulatory compliance
- Working knowledge of safety devices interlocking with robot servo motor stop/start
- Working knowledge of deadman switches
- Working knowledge of robot area scanners to include trouble shooting
- Working knowledge of Safety gate lock/open latch function and trouble shooting
- Working knowledge of LO/TO requirements to include the use of the pendant
- Working knowledge of required laser sensors and functions
- Working knowldege of collision detection
- Knowledge of Safe Zone Definitions
- Knowledge of adjusting recyclers and temperature controllers
**Experience**:
- 5 years of experience working in the controls area or a closely related field
- 2 years working with safety devices
**Skills**:
- Intermediate - Advanced English, ability to effectively communicate, read and write
- Ability to effectively present training via various medias
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Note and Power Point, SAP and Velocity
- PLC programming

**Education/Certifications**:
- Degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronic engineering or a related field
- HSE related certifications in ISO 12100 and ISO13849
- Valid Driver's license
- Possess or obtain all necessary paperwork for international travel
**Working Conditions**:
- Travel requirements: Domestic and/or Global up to 35%
- Regular Business hours. Some additional hours may be required to provide coverage at Acuna facilities
