**WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**:The Yucatan Peninsula is a priority site for its biocultural wealth, its strategic contribution to the tourism sector, and other key activities that provide livelihoods and well-being for millions of people in local communities and throughout the region.
It contains the second largest tropical forest on the continent after the Amazon and is home to a very significant portion of the second longest reef in the world.
It has been designated as a priority region by international and national organizations because it is a natural heritage that requires attention and means to achieve its permanence for future generations.Currently, various processes converge on the part of civil society organizations and other sectors who have found opportunities to focus resources and generate synergies in favor of conservation and sustainable development of the region.
These opportunities require timely attention and coordination to move towards medium- and long-term goals based on work programs developed in a participatory manner.
Based on this analysis, the need for a full-time position that coordinates and ensures the continuity and results proposed by the participating organizations and other initiatives that converge in this region has been raised.
**WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**:The Iconic Place Projects Coordinator supports and leads a wide array of efforts aimed to build strong coordination and collaboration schemes with different stakeholders in the Yucatan Peninsula, including the Maya Forest and Mesoamerican Reef.
The position comprises two key work streams: 50% of the time will be dedicated to ensuring that the Yucatan Peninsula Alliance (comprised by Amigos de Sian Ka´an, Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza, Pronatura Península de Yucatan, World Wildlife Fund and TNC).
The other 50% will be dedicated to lead and support other initiatives aimed at building a strong and impactful collaborations and networking in the region.
Uses TNC code of conduct and competencies as a baseline to conduct their actions and be an example for others.
**RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE**- Plans, articulates and follows up on the Yucatán Peninsula Alliance and other key initiatives in the region
