Reporting to the Purchasing Group Manager, this is an opportunity to coordinate the purchasing of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for our growing global organization. We need someone with profound relationship, project management, and operational leadership skills, as well as expertise in supply chain management; someone who can take ownership for procurement of goods and services at the best possible price. We need a Buyer who understands the nature of a production environment and who can work closely with the purchasing team and project managers to assure materials need target margins and delivery dates. Essential Responsibilities and accountabilities Perform diversified procurement. You will:
Plan and buy a range of direct material categories, including plastic sheet and roll stock, plastic extrusions, wood, and electrical components.Negotiate pricing and terms with current and potential suppliers.Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials.Schedule and expedite materials pertaining to non-merchandising items.Drive continuous improvement in all procurement activities Manage local and international supplier relationships. You will:
Publish RFPs and RFQs for customized materials.Interface with vendors, materials, production, project management staff.Maintain accurate vendor, item, and inventory databases.Receive and interview vendor representatives to keep abreast ofdevelopments, market trends, negotiate prices, service, quality, etc.Participate in supplier qualification and certification processes.Develop and manage vendor partnerships to secure both short and long-term relationships.Negotiate short and long-term commitment agreements.Work with A/P to assist in resolving invoicing issues. Qualifications College diploma or a university degree in Business Administration, Materials Planning or Supply Chain Management. Ideally, you are pursuing APICS or SCMA designations. 2-3 years of experience buying/planning and procuring materials and supplies preferably for a Manufacturing Procurement or related field. You know how to write and evaluate RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs. You understand the details, guidelines, restrictions, and requirements of the bidding process and contract management. The technical skills:
