- JOB SUMMARY:
- This position will evaluate and work on improving utilization of equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of manufacturing operations utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment and systems capabilities, assembly methods, quality control and corporate standards.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for driving initiatives to improve Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery and Overall Efficiency
- Analyzes work force utilization, facilities layout and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts and production schedules, to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements, process improvements and potential capacity improvements.
- Develops, implements and standardizes across all the production areas and product lines standard work measurement for labor utilization.
- Responsible for creating detailed line balance analysis, identifying and working to close the gaps on all areas in need of improvement.
- Responsible for creating and driving standardized work.
- Identifies opportunities such as reorganizing workflow, relocating equipment, and purchasing of equipment to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Responsible for driving Lean, Industrial Engineering processes.
- Works closely with Packaging, Materials and Production planning group to document and implement kitting methods, in plant material transportation and line side presentation that enables the right part at the right time in the right quantity.
- Responsible for coordinating the training of manufacturing, support personnel and updating standard work when implementing new process.
- Assists the Operations and Manufacturing team with the development, justification, and execution of long-range plans to meet plant objectives.
- SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:
- BS / MS degree in Industrial or Process Engineering
- 3-5 years manufacturing experience
Technical Skills:
- PFMEA development and assessment
- Proficient in MTM / MODapts or equivalent (predetermined motion time system)
- Direct and indirect labor analysis and planning
- Process analysis - takt time v. cycle time, line balance
- Value Stream Mapping and Process Optimization
- Equipment and systems budget planning and tracking
- Project management - plan, develop and execute
- Understanding of basic OSHA requirements, ergonomics and 5S
- Business & Leadership Skills:
- Ability to influence and work in cooperation with cross functional teams
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills - ability to work in a matrix organization and effectively lead without direct positional authority
- Strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills including the ability to write clear, concise technical documentation
- Ability to travel and support product launches and technical problem solving
- The ability to break down problems and gain understanding to make effective decisions
- The passion to set and meet high standards of performance
