.BASIC FUNCTION:Under the supervision of the Project Manager, this position is responsible for implementing the optimum manufacturing processes, including material flow, material handling, process layout definition and updates; addressing efficiency and productivity, as well as decreasing waste and cost. To be successful in this role, the candidate would need to display an analytical approach to the detection of waste activities, time study and movements, and implement the most efficient material flow for the process while keeping the master plant layout up to date.Production and Distribution efficiencies.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop activities such as optimum materials handling and the shortest possible throughput times definition for new and current processes; inventory reduction, floor improvement reducing or eliminating waste.Analyze the different processes and determine the adequate work conditions related to space, layouts, lighting, breaks, manpower, tools and equipment.Follow up activities such as process definition along with the projects process engineering team, inventory reduction, material handling improvement, reducing or eliminating waste, taking into consideration ergonomic issues.Develop new processes layouts for new equipment and introduction of new products.Manage changes and updates of the master plant layout, including the review of the desired change and sharing the decision of approval or rejection of the request.Conduct periodical audits on the plant to assure the layout is up to date and avoid any installation or material out of the latest layout approved version.Support activities of the project's team such as process definition, standard pack, equipment installation and training of new processes.Develop Standard Work for new processes.Comply with the Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities established for this position (See Responsibilities chart by position).RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:Supervisory Relationships:Reports to the Project ManagerOrganization Relationships:High contact with process engineers (global, projects and operations ME's), supply chain and General supervisors.Frequent contact with the Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Supply chain Departments and people from Corporate.External Relationships:High contact with OEMs and manufacturing engineers.Skills/RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSEducation:Preference for bachelor's degree in engineering.Experience:Preference for 4 years of related experience.Formation:Preference must have the ability to understand Autocad, SAP and VIS systems, Standard Cost and BOM structure, Microsoft Office. Bilingual (English & Spanish) is preferred.
