**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period. Duties may include:

- Conduct literature reviews for research topics in the area of development economics
- Draft sections and chapters for documents on development economics
- Conduct quantitative analysis if necessary for different research topics
- Bring in own research ideas
- Support other tasks of the team

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

Job - Specific Qualification
For this internship, studies in the area of Economics, Development Economics, Finance or related area are desirable.

Work Experience

For this internship, knowledge and skills conducting economic research work is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Fluency in English or Spanish is required. Knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE: "Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read,write, and understand) and ¨knowledge of¨ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
