Catalyze Research and Innovation Through Visionary Leadership: Partner with CIMMYT's leadership team to ensure a synergistic integration of our core research strengths with innovative program development. Lead pivotal institutional initiatives, leveraging CIMMYT's unique competencies to enrich the quality and expand the impact of our scientific and innovation endeavors. Provide coordination and quality assurance for science and innovation programs and projects, fostering an environment where collaborative science and operational excellence thrive. Elevate and Advocate CIMMYT's Research and Innovation Agenda Globally: Stay informed on global advancements in agricultural research, leveraging these insights to fortify CIMMYT's policies and drive actionable outcomes. Actively engage with key stakeholders and represent CIMMYT at international forums and meetings, advocating for and advancing our research and innovation agenda. Contribute actively to governance, strategic decision-making, and resource allocation, aligning our research and innovation agenda with overarching institutional priorities as expressed in the 2030 Strategy. Champion inter-program collaboration as you oversee CIMMYT's role within CGIAR Research Programs and Platforms, ensuring cohesive and aligned research efforts. Championing Strategic Resource Mobilization: Forge robust pathways for resource mobilization by overseeing grants, projects, and intellectual property management in partnership with scientists and operational staff. Diligently review and assess CIMMYT's research budget, ensuring funding streams are robust and align with the center's strategic objectives. Collaboratively work with Program Directors and the Human Resources team to scrutinize and approve staffing for research programs. Engage and motivate Program Directors and other scientific staff, ensuring leadership aligns with CIMMYT's high standards and strategic goals of Excellence in all we do. Possession of a Ph.D. in agricultural science, plant breeding, agronomy, or a closely related field, complemented by a significant publication record and demonstrable project leadership. A cumulative 10-15 years or more of exemplary service in senior management positions within renowned nonprofit organizations, foundations, corporate sectors, or government agencies, with a commanding track record in scientific leadership and executive oversight. A global perspective grounded in international and developing country experience, driven by a deep commitment to elevating living standards in emerging economies. A history of achieving exceptional outcomes, earning esteem for a cooperative and inclusive approach, and contributing to a culture of excellence. Versatility in managing a multitude of tasks and priorities within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, exemplifying agility and strategic multitasking. Proven expertise in forging and nurturing relationships with a broad spectrum of individuals, across diverse backgrounds and disciplines. An innate ability to navigate the intricacies of international diplomacy with finesse, employing tact and discretion as fundamental tools of engagement.
