The IT Environmental Controls Engineer is responsible for building a secure physical environment to host IT infrastructure at each Honeywell facility globally.
Whether it's a full datacenter or a small telecom cabinet, physical and environmental controls such as power backup through UPS, temperature and humidity management and proper access controls, are key for the delivery of IT services.
This role will be responsible for building the necessary physical controls from scratch, integrate sites into this new support model and maintain those controls going forward by partnering both with other IT Teams and local Facilities Management staff.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Build and maintain a service to manage physical environmental controls to secure IT assets
- Size, implement and maintain optimized power protection for IT assets
- Partner up with local Facilities Management to size and deploy proper cooling and fire suppression systems for IT rooms
- Monitor environmental controls throughout Honeywell IT rooms using automated systems
- Deploy access controls to secure IT rooms working together with local Facilities Management
- Maintain an IT inventory in Nlyte and ServiceNow CMDB of the most critical sites with IT Infrastructure
- Create and document procedures aligned to Honeywell's ITSM processes to address incidents related to environmental controls in IT rooms
- Manage IT environmental controls projects by documenting scope, bid solicitation, coordinating vendor access and support on site
**YOU MUST HAVE**:
- IT, Mechanical, electrical or similar engineering degree
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts and systems (single phase, 3 phase, voltages, amperages, load calculations, etc.)
- Understanding of cooling concepts and load calculations (BTU, Ton, hot isle/cold isle, proper airflow concepts, etc.)
- Understand basic IT concepts such as servers, network, racks, cabling, PDUs, etc.
- 3+ years of experience managing datacenter or IT Rooms environmental controls including deployments and monitoring
- Fluent English
- VISA
