Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Role Purpose**:
IT technician on MTA Plant, focused to provide solutions, installation, maintenance to network and general support using desktop technology. Provide manufacturing systems support, IMS hardware support, Users desktops, office devices and technical assistance to Corning IT as requested. Provide backup support for the Site Leader as requested.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work closely with, IT service delivery, project management, and functional/business resources to deliver projects and services on time.
- Participate on IMS Projects as needed.
- IMS Infrastructure Support, including computers, printers, switches, servers and security.
- Interface with Corning IT to resolve issues.
- Communicate Infrastructure needs and issues to Site Leader.
- May train end users on software.
- Administers end user requests and projects.
- Coordinates resources to solve problems.
- Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
- May be assigned to small projects or to phase(s) of larger projects.
- Contributes to the completion of routine technical tasks.
- Provide user support for Office assistant and all services related printers, IT devices installation or relocation.
- Bring technical support for computer devices, update hardware, install software, telephony services and provide user instructions as requests.
- Have external customer or vendor contacts for IMS or Office support.
- Maintain operative services running, support on site, infrastructure, or server room.
**Experiences/Education**:
- Technical or Bachelor's degree in an IT related field or combination of IT education and work experience.
- Some experience in an IT department in a manufacturing environment.
- IT Infrastructure support experience.
