There is an amazing opportunity to provide significant impact to the organization in the Controls and Protection – Bussmann Division in Ellisville, MO.We are seeking a Lead Design Engineer with a background in electro-mechanical design and plastic molding to join a team that's challenged with changing the way our customers safely interact with and understand their electrical infrastructure. Our goals are to increase safety, minimize power problems, create context for users when problems do occur, and help them save energy. The team focuses heavily on design, prototyping and user testing. The position will require occasional travel.In this role, you will:Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions.Use advanced techniques and modify and extend theories, precepts, and practices.Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important engineering projects or several small projects with many complex features, bringing them to a successful conclusion in a timely fashion.Effectively advocate for users in a corporate climate, providing day-to-day design leadership.Work closely with technicians, designers, engineers, and business professionals to guide products from inception through delivery.Work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand the product space and design priorities.Create and iterate on prototypes at various levels of fidelity.Understand customer requirements and market trends to identify new opportunities and develop new product design concepts.Provide senior level technical engineering support for products to marketing department, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, design engineering, suppliers (material and tooling), and end customers.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.Minimum of 8 years working as an Electrical/Mechanical Designer, design engineer or similar.Minimum of 4 years of experience working on new product development.Knowledge of electrical circuit protection products, electrical distribution systems, and applicable industry standards is desirable.Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to effectively motivate team members that are not direct reports.Competency in Enovia, 3D CAD modeling tools (SolidWorks), SAP and Minitab.Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics is a plus.At least 5 years of experience working as a Design Engineer.Exposure to working with cross-functional teams.Experience and exposure to Design Thinking tools and methodologies
