ICON's long-term vision is the democratization of personal flight and 3-D mobility.**Mission of Role**: To lead stress and structures team. To lead cost reduction efforts via DfMA. To design and develop composite aircraft structures and tooling using 3D solid CAD models. To perform stress analysis on primary composite and metallic structures using hand calculations and FEA.**Location**: Tijuana, Mexico**Reports to**: Director of Engineering (Vacaville, CA)**Primary Areas of Responsibilities**:- Leads Production Improvement Engineering team in efforts to reduce aircraft cost, reduce non-conformances, and improve manufacturability through redesign- Leads stress analysis across the Engineering organization- Leads the composite airframe primary and secondary structural design through detail design and design for manufacturing- Design using Creo (Pro/E) CAD software for solid modeling- Create statistics and KPIs to track results- Prepares and delivers presentations to senior management for project statuses, constraints, and critical issues**Success Indicators**1. Team releases high quality CAD models and drawings on schedule2. Achieves aircraft cost reduction and NCR reduction goals3. Structure meets weight and manufacturability goals while meeting strength & stiffness requirements4. Has effectively been a team player and leader and contributed to the development of ICON aircraft in meaningful way**Requirements**: **Preferred Experience & Education**- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering- Composite structural experience for light aircraft, autos or other vehicles- Hands-on composite fabrication experience, wet layup preferred- 5 to 10 years using any high level CAD system, Creo (Pro/E) preferred- 5+ years of people management with direct and indirect personnel reports- English (Advanced - listening and speaking that allow fluid presentations and/or participation in negotiation processes)**Ideal Experience**- 8 to 10 years of experience designing general aviation primary and secondary structures, including composites and injection molded plastics, using complex surfaces in Pro Element/Creo- Startup Experience- Manufacturing company experience. Preferred experience in the Aeronautical industry- Materials and Processing (M&P) oversight- Preliminary sizing for stress through hand calculations or Pro/Mechanical Finite Element Analysis- MRP/ERP system understanding for EBOM, MBOM, Routings, Inventory levels, etc
