Lean Summer Computer Systems Student

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Execute, with guidance, the analysis, design, test and/or integration required to define and support the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements.
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
- Develop technical capabilities concurrent with the execution of the responsibilities of the position
- Document technical data that is generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems and that is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews.
- Support the solution of problems of limited scope and complexity.
- Utilize Lean tools to improve current business products and processes.
- Self-check of work.
- Demonstrated solid technical capability.

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Student of Computer Systems Engineering (preferred) or STEM major
- Demonstrated strong leadership and pro-activeness.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Presentation Skills: ability to properly communicate with local and global counterparts.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of programming skills.
- Demonstrated ability in managing projects.

- Knowledge in programming languages like Java, Python or Scala
- Knowledge in writing SQL scripts for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL or Hive
- Basic understanding or interest to learn Big Data / Hadoop / Spark / Hive / NoSQL database engines (i.e. Cassandra or HBase)
- Basic understanding or interest to learn unstructured datasets and ability to handle XML, JSON file formats
- Basic understanding or interest to learn Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tools
