Position Summary: The Learning Management Systems (LMS) Administrator is responsible for maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS) while providing comprehensive support and training to the UIW community in both Texas and Mexico. The LMS Administrator acts as a champion for the LMS and other integrated innovative technologies, ensuring their effective implementation and use. The LMS Administrator reports to the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology.
Job Duties: Maintain the LMS and Integrated Technologies:Serve as the primary contact for LMS-related inquiries and issues.Manage the LMS for optimal performance and usability.Monitor vendor communications and status for issues and outages.Test and validate LMS known issues, deploy fixes, feature releases, and integrated products.Manage third-party integrations within the LMS.Maintain awareness and documentation of technical specifications, standards, and procedures related to the LMS and integrated technologies.Collaborate with internal IT departments to maintain functionality, course integrity, and user data within the LMS.Create and maintain LMS policies and procedures to protect the integrity of the LMS platform and its data in compliance with FERPA regulations.Communicate with vendors or partners to effectively manage the LMS.Perform other duties as assigned.Support LMS End Users:Prioritize end user issues based on severity and efficiently resolve with LMS and third-party integrations.Provide effective verbal and written LMS support through the Help Desk ticket system as well as in-person, email, phone, chat, or virtual sessions.Use technical skills and critical thinking to troubleshoot reported issues and document resolutions.Assess the impact of issues to communicate changes in functionality with the team and community.Analyze support data and end-user feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.Monitor and Report Data Analytics:Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data reporting needs and requirements.Monitor data analytics to identify trends, usage patterns, and potential issues within the LMS.Generate comprehensive data reports to support decision-making processes.Write and maintain SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and reporting.Design and implement data visualization dashboards using PowerBI.Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reports and visualizations.Monitor and troubleshoot data reporting issues and provide timely resolutions.Provide training and support to users on how to access and interpret data analytics and reports.Conduct regular audits of data reports to maintain consistency and reliability.Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data reporting and analytics.Advocate for Adoption and Innovation:Promote LMS features and instructional technologies to elevate teaching and learning.Identify and advocate for technologies that enhance the LMS experience.Maintain records and resources to improve end-user skills and adoption.Create and maintain operating instructions for LMS features, including written documentation and video demonstrations.Create and maintain LMS-related web content.Provide training opportunities for LMS managers working at other UIW campuses and system administrators impacting the functionality of the LMS.Collaborate with the team and community to design and deliver professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.Qualifications: Skilled in LMS configuration and administration.Proficiency in educational technologies such as ExamSoft, Echo360, Poll Everywhere, Respondus, Softchalk, Hypothesis, or EdPuzzle.Strong technical skills and familiarity with innovative educational technologies.Proficiency in data analytics and interpretation.Effective customer service and problem-solving skills.Flexibility to adapt to changing technological landscapes and institutional requirements.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively and with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.Ability to initiate projects and complete projects without supervision.Ability to adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of technical experience managing an LMS or equivalent system.
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (English and Spanish)Experience managing Canvas LMS platform.Experience with Banner by Ellucian.Experience in SQL or other programming languages.Familiar with APIs and middleware tools.Knowledge of database structures.Work Hours: Work hours 8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday. On call for emergencies related to the LMS. May be required to work evenings and weekends depending on need.
Physical Demands: Ability to move about multiple campus locations to provide support services and expertise, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
