.Brightcove is looking to hire a **Manager, Engineering** to oversee the development of new services as part of the Brightcove Video Cloud. These new services will receive millions of requests per day from millions of viewers per day. This is an exciting position with high visibility across the company and great growth potential.**Responsibilities**:- Manage and coach a team of 3-5 back-end engineers working on brand new Video Cloud services.- Lead and deliver key engineering initiatives while balancing the needs for operating and maintaining existing systems.- Hire and mentor world-class engineers, continuously coaching and mentoring them to reach their greatest potential.- Identify and implement development process and methodology improvements to increase the quality of work products.- Work with Product Management to contribute to the strategic direction of the products and roadmaps. Question priorities provided and push for engineering-led initiatives for sustaining engineering, security, tech debt and innovation.- Lead technical discussions and provide input on designs, focusing on how strategic decisions might influence design long-term.- Stay abreast of industry trends in advertising and video content delivery.**Qualifications/Experience**- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering and architecture experience- 2+ years of people management experience; ability to inspire and develop a team of engineers to do their best work in a collaborative and positive approach- Understand advertising policies and delivery, including CDN operations, SSPs, and advertising standards like VAST and VMAP - and stay abreast of industry trends.- Passion for coaching and developing others, providing continuous feedback and recognizing positive behaviors and achievements along the way- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal- Ability to present highly technical topics in a way that is digestible and easy to understand; ability to influence and engage others- Understanding of the full software delivery lifecycle, from conceptualization through delivery and all steps in between.- Experience with agile methodologies.- Understanding of building, delivering and operating internet scale, distributed, high availability systems.- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and market conditions.- Please note, we support 100% remote work for applicants who reside in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin
