ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned.
Develops Machining Processes and conducts Process Improvement
Select machining strategies for new parts including equipment, tooling and programming techniques
As required, specify and coordinate purchase of new equipment and tooling. This also includes implementation and validation
Specifies manufacturing methods and part routings
May perform time studies or develop operator standard work
Creates and updates Process Documentation
Designs and documents fixturing, work holding and tools using CAD/CAM software
Mentors Programmers and Operators in manufacturing best practices
Focus on sustainable, long-term success of processes
Utilize process monitoring/control skills (e.g., Statistical Process Control)
Acts as first point of contact for technical questions and challenges from operators
Answers process related questions promptly
Reacts quickly to initial quality, tooling, and equipment issues to keep cells running
Participates in Daily Management to drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance
Collects and updates data for shop and cell level SQDC
Drives action to successfully meet goals
Performs Root Cause Counter-Measure (RCCM) analysis of Internal and External quality issues
Collects and receives first signals of potential defective product in area of ownership, troubleshoots, and provides feedback to operators on initial disposition (e.g., issuing Control Lots for quarantined parts, developing inspection and/or rework processes)
Submits Deviation and Engineering Change Order requests
Works closely with Quality team on External returns including analysis related to defects originating in area of ownership, both determination of root cause and implementation of countermeasures
Performs basic troubleshooting and repairs in area of ownership
Does initial mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to determine root cause of equipment failures
Assists Maintenance with minor repairs and troubleshooting of equipment
Performs equipment calibration/validation as needed
Maintains documentation related to part routings, work instructions and inspection
Creates/updates Process Documentation for areas of ownership
Mentors Programmers in documentation of best practices
Participates in the implementation of personnel training
Assists in the development of training documentation
Trains and audits operators to training documentation
Programs, sets up, and operates machines as required
COMPETENCIES
- Has an understanding of gauge tolerances and GD&T
- Able to program 'new work' on a 3-Path CNC control using existing techniques
- Has an understanding of and ability to program higher level inspection techniques such as optical and touch CMM
- Displays positive attitude and passion for team and company success
- Proven troubleshooting skills and analytical capability
- Demonstrate attention to high quality and productive work
- Self-starter; ability to work independently
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 3 years plus experience in a machine Shop manufacturing environment
- Experience programming and setup of CNC lathes/mills preferred
- Swiss lathe experience preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must have a United States of America (USA) Visa
- Willing to travel up to 40%, including internationally
