Job Description JOB PURPOSE This position is responsible for the value stream engineering developments for Nitinol processing from incoming material through the drawing process to the finished product.
Lead manufacturing engineering initiatives towards alignment and achievement of metrics and objectives.
Work on designing and building fixtures to shape set Nitinol components in collaboration with MDC's customers' development teams.
Across these product lines there will be a major emphasis on applying lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements to increase throughput and quality while ensuring employee safety.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Designs, develops and improves the Nitinol related Value Stream with a focus on safety, quality and productivity.
Support the Engineering Manager in the manufacturing engineering initiatives towards achievement of KPI's Promote and lead engineering projects towards Safety, productivity, quality and cost savings.
Promote and drive change as part of growth and development.
Develop robust solutions that prevent defects from being generated or passed on; and provide data analytics for process monitoring and diagnostics.
Interface regularly with engineering manager and staff to assure clear and concise communication is in place.
Responsible for leading Nitinol Value Streams from initial evaluation of manufacturing feasibility through to validation of process, qualification of product and confirmation of capability during early development level production.
Reviews customer's medical component design and specifications to provide technical feedback on the feasibility of manufacturing, design to manufacture costs savings options and collaborates with sales team in providing customer quotes.
Fully manages and/or participates in implementation of new equipment and processes including the FAT/SAT process, on-site validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), training of necessary staff and updating process documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE (TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS COMPETENCY) Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
Supervisor and Leadership role experience (a plus).
Experience in Nitinol (desirable).
7+ yrs experience in working in lean manufacturing environment (desirable).
Working knowledge in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
Ability to occasionally lift 10-20 pounds.
