**Descri **ption**:
The following positions typically report directly or indirectly to this position: Manufacturing Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, Product Change Control Engineers, Manufacturing Project Engineers, 6 Sigma Black Belts. Provides supervisory support to Operations and Product Managers for automated manufacturing systems, manufacturing processes, gaging and checking equipment, tooling and work standards. Works closely with product engineering, marketing, customer services and Operations Managers to ensure common goals in support of product group objectives.
**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to**:
This position requires a high degree of experience and expertise in various or specific fields of manufacturing such as machining processes, welding, heat treat, manufacturing technology, etc. Incumbent needs to have a good understanding of product design to combine with process design expertise to provide for improved manufacturability of parts and major components.
Provides direction and guidance to other manufacturing personnel in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity. Works with suppliers (both internal and external) in the development of projects, which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.
This position is actively involved with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product. Ensures Engineering, Purchasing and shop personnel both at Caterpillar and suppliers are involved in the approval process so that sound decisions are made which improve manufacturing processes, quality and/or reduce costs. Uses knowledge gained through years of experience to explain to suppliers the tooling, dies, fixtures, etc., needed to improve processes.
**Required Qualifications**:
- College degree in an appropriate engineering (Industrial Eng, Mechatronic Eng, Mechanic Eng)
- 80%- Advanced English level, written and oral communication
- 3+ years of relevant experience in appropriate equivalent experience
- Requires analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills and thorough knowledge concerning the capabilities of both domestic and foreign suppliers
- Manufacturing experience
- Supervisor experience
- Knowledgeable and experience with Project Management advanced skills and Capital Folders
- Negotiation with Customers and prioritization skills
- Provides effective communication and services in solving production problems or pursuing operational improvements
- Proven knowledge on Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing
**Desired Qualifications**:
- Knowledge of Caterpillar Reman products
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Demonstrated understanding of Caterpillar Safety, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering Practices
- Facility expansion experience
