**Position Description**

MISSION
**The Manager Supply Planning & Dealer Inventory Management** is part of the Supply Planning & Dealer Inventory Management (SP/DIM) organization within GTO-SML NA.
The SP/DIM organization is responsible for parts availability, backorder recovery, delivery precision and inventory.
The Supply Planning & Dealer Inventory Manager is responsible both for the parts availability for the service market as well as for the quality and efficiency of expediting all backorder related issues for service market parts to the Dealer network for specific Business Areas.
Effective communication with personnel, suppliers, the Business Areas in Mexico (Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks and Volvo Buses) and internal departments, such as Group Trucks Purchasing and Service Market Technology, is essential in this leadership role.
This position will manage a team covering the following functions: Supply Planning Analyst, Initial Planner, Refill Analyst, Project Leader, Dealer Inventory Administrator, and Back Order Recovery Coordinator or Specialist.
This position assures the proper functioning of the Supply Planning and Dealer Inventory department in Mexico, facilitating and stimulating teamwork, coordinating the different activities as well as the decision-taking process with respect to the issues related to the department.
The manager is responsible for the operational effectiveness, recruitment, training, goal setting, and development of the team.
The Manager is responsible for ensuring that organizational and departmental goals are met, and that each employee is aware of these goals and engaged in achieving the desired results.
Goals related to spare part availability, inventory value, days of inventory, dealer service index, back-order recovery and continuous improvement (VPS).
The manager is responsible for conducting all its activities in a way that is not only safe for the individual, but also safe for the environment by avoiding impacts that affect the same in terms of energy use, water use, hazardous waste generation and special handling, generation of defective products, generation of wastewater discharges, emissions to the atmosphere, perimeter noise, risk of spills of hazardous waste and hazardous waste management.
III.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Contribute to the fulfillment of KPI's for SML NA, such as Availability, Days on Inventory, Delivery Precision, Dealer Service index, and Back Order Recovery.
- Meet various PI's within the service market that are of central importance to the customer.
- Communicate KPI results to the team, to different stakeholders and levels of management throughout the company.
- Manage a team of 5-10 supply chain professionals to ensure performance targets are achieved and to encourage and promote teamwork in an efficient and professional manner.
- Manage the individual performance of team members.
- Manage schedules, ETO inquiries, and time approval for the team.
- Encourage employee development through appropriate training, stretch assignments, and job rotation.
- Provide skilled support, on-going training and guidance to the team drawing upon hands-on experiences to ensure individual and team success.
- Handle multiple complex priorities of significant impact to the company with an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Improve supplier relationship management through continuous communication on supplier objectives and goals.
- Resolve difficult customer issues professionally and expeditiously; accountable for any escalated parts issues emanating from dealers, regional sales or service managers, or as relayed by management.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other SML functions to facilitate optimal resolution on all Service Market Parts backorders, inquiries or issues.
- Exercise initiative; documenting and raising issues and opportunities to the Director that lead to process improvements and realized efficiencies for the team and organization.
- Identify colleagues/partners and understand customer expectations and direct departmental responsiveness to their needs.
- Maintain effective, factual communication with all levels of management throughout the company, both internally and externally.
- Work on continuous improvement through the Volvo Production System.
- Act as an inspiring leader; attract, motivate, develop and retain talent.
- Lead and act according to Volvo values, drive change and promote diversity.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
**PROFILE**
MBA degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
APICS Certification
BA/BS degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
5 years of relevant Logistics, Inventory Management and/or Supply Chain experience.
**EXPERIENCE**
2 years of relevant Logistics, Inventory Management and/or Supply Chain experience.
Additional Education and Experience
- Supervisory experience preferred.
