**About the Role**
Mental Health Chaplain provides high quality transformational pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, their families and carers in line with CatholicCare's Person Centred Approach, Mission, Vision and Values. The Chaplain works inclusively with people of diverse backgrounds, issues and needs, of faith or not, to sustain and empower the individual to enable holistic wellbeing and recovery. The Chaplain is responsible for:

- Assessing the religious, spiritual, pastoral and practical needs of patients and their families and providing a Ministry of presence, spiritual guidance, pastoral counselling and grief support
- Enabling where appropriate, participation in worship, sacraments and other religious functions in different locations as required for patients and their families and carers
- Assessing and managing appropriate boundary, privacy and confidentiality issues
- Promoting and raise the profile of Chaplaincy among hospital staff; provide education and leadership trough speaking engagements and other appropriate activities to the wider community on the role of the Hospital Chaplain
- Developing and maintaining consultative and collaborative relationships with Chaplains from various religious denominations working within the Hospital campus

**About You**
- The ability to undertake the duties of the role in accordance with CatholicCare's Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and its faith traditions
- Pastoral Care and/or Pastoral Counselling qualifications such as Clinical Pastoral Education (minimum 400 hours) or equivalent and ability to articulate a variety of theological perspectives arising from an individual's particular theological formation. Additional qualifications in Mental Health are desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability in delivering pastoral care and spiritual mentoring in a multi faith context, and ability to engage with people in matters of belief and meaning
- Demonstrated ability to listen, respond and act with sensitivity, empathy, compassion and confidentiality including an understanding of problems which may be experienced by clients and their carers
- High level or organisational skills to ensure achievable scheduling of visits, detailed visit notes and data collection and retrieval.
