The Metrologist is in charge of the dimensional validation of tools, parts and/or components produced in-house or from suppliers, complying with all safety and quality requirements/regulations.General ActivitiesAnalyze engineering drawings of parts and/or components to be sizedDevelop programs for coordinate measuring machines (CMM)Generate final dimensional reports for PPAP and/or assigned validationsTrain personnel in the use of measuring equipmentAnnual Full Layout requested by the quality engineer according to customer special requirements (CSR)MSA, attribute RR, variable RR, destructive testing MSA studiesUpdate and follow-up of Gage TrackPerforms calibration status monitoring of Test and Measurement EquipmentCoordinates external calibration activitiesIssues internal calibration certificates in Gage TrackPerforms layered audits as requiredOther activities as assigned by managementMaintain inventories of spare parts and consumables required in the areaGenerate purchase requisitions as requiredAssist the quality engineer on technical measurement issuesMaintain records of measurement equipment loansParticipate in Continuous Improvement activities as required.KnowledgeHigh school diploma or technical or engineering degree.Intermediate English.Office software, Geometric Tolerances (GD&T).Use and programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), optical comparator, profilometer, laser micrometer, knowledge and use of measuring and testing equipment in general.Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.Use and handling of calibration standards. Knowledge of ESDAdditional requirementsHandling geometric tolerances, blueprint reading, basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
