**Position Summary**:
- The Mechanical Design Engineer I within our Production Engineering team is responsible for designing customer specified custom switchgear distribution reclosure and overhead switches products to our G&W's quality standard. This position will specialize in our entire catalog of overhead and underground switchgear products. **Essential/Primary Responsibilities**:
- _Design to order per customer provided specification within a team environment._
- _Provide design competency to industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.) _
- _Design products to internal engineering design standards and best practices within customer lead time and quality expectations_
- _Coach, maintain and assist technical aptitude among design team members._
- _Be a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activities._
- _Provide technical support for internal and external customers. _
- _Collaborate cross-functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g. Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing)._
**_Required Experience_**_:_**
- _Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Discipline_
- _Experience in 2D and 3D design (CAD)._
- _Excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences in Spanish and English_
- _Strong analytical design and quantitative problem-solving skills_

- _CREO CAD Software experience_
- _Sheet Metal design experience._
