Your responsibilitiesYou will lead the identification, design, development and management of high-quality carbon projects across Mexico as we grow our organisation and expand our impact. This is a dynamic role including 'boots on the ground' and broader country responsibilities. You will have ownership of the Mexican project portfolio and the success of Forliance in the country.
Your responsibilities will include:
Identifying and evaluating project opportunities aligned with country and organizational objectives, with a focus on project scouting and feasibility.Executing the country strategy whilst overseeing and leading the carbon project development in Mexico, ensuring alignment with relevant policies, legislation, standards and project management best practices.Leading the project planning, implementation, and monitoring activities for all Mexican projects to ensure successful execution, achievement of targets, and adherence to project timelines, including working at project sites with stakeholders.Development and management of project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to optimize project outcomes, including comprehensive financial controlling and forecasting.Ongoing review of local market analysis to identify potential opportunities and trends, with a focus on sourcing viable projects in Mexico.Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including relevant government agencies, industry partners, NGOs, and local communities to facilitate robust communication, managing stakeholder expectations and for project sourcing and execution.Representing FORLIANCE at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote project development initiatives and attract new project opportunities in Mexico.Developing and executing business proposals for new project opportunities, ensuring alignment with the country strategy and broader organizational goals.Overseeing all financial aspects of projects in Mexico, including financial controlling, due diligence, budgeting, reporting and forecasting to ensure financial viability and accountability.Overseeing and managing all contracts associated with projects in Mexico, ensuring compliance and effective contract administration. Your profileYou successfully completed a University degree in resource management, forestry, agriculture or related field with a focus on project development with strong financial budgeting and forecasting. Expertise in carbon project development and nature-based solutions an advantage.You have at least 8 years of professional experience in sustainable land use paired with a comprehensive understanding of environmental conservation principles and practices; Carbon Action Reserve and experience in ARR and IFM projects is an advantage.You have proven experience in simultaneously leading different projects and project teams.You showcase effective multitasking and prioritization abilitiesYou are proficient in the preparation of business and financial plans with a track record of successful project implementation and achievement of targets.You are fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish, with excellent communication skills in both languages.You are willing to travel for project-related activities and stakeholder engagements.You have professional experience (at least 5+ years) in Mexico and have a deep understanding of the local context and legal frameworks.You are able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including local communities to ensure that expectations are managed and to resolve issues efficiently.
