Purpose of Position. We're looking for a proven leader who's eager to grow, manage, and inspire a group that includes but is not limited to Molding Engineering (Process, Tooling, Maintenance, Drying, Mfg. data), Supply Chain, Production, and Quality. As a hands-on Molding Manager, you'll get the opportunity to shape and implement standard processes for a molding operation as well as make key decisions.
The Molding Manager manages direct and indirect labor, raw materials, supplies, machines, and equipment resources maximizing results in productivity and quality in a timely manner with a minimum cost. Ensures coordination of the department efforts to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) like safety, OEE, labor efficiency, quality, schedule attainment, material usage variance and strongly supports the success of new product launches and productivity projects and overall Operations objectives.
Major responsibilities and tasks of the position. Provide leadership and coaching to managers and supervisors to achieve all goals in Safety, OEE, Labor Efficiency, Quality, Schedule Attainment, and Material Usage Variance.Define and drive standardized work (SOPs) throughout all areas and functions.Implement, maintain, and enforce 5S discipline throughout the operation areas.Lead TPM culture across the functions and individuals.Fully embrace and drive HOP safety management philosophy, striving to achieve a culture where individuals learn and adjust systems for long-term sustainability of safety.Develop a leadership culture centered on agility, strategic thinking, and people development & engagement.Ensure that organizational capability is properly aligned with business landscape and organization objectives.Lead the organization to master Pex/Lean/Quality core and advanced tools to evolve while embracing new manufacturing technologies and methods to deliver a true lean and agile Molding Operation.Ensure workforce resources are adequate to meet the organization's production schedule and efficiency targets.Evaluate production and determine ways to improve efficiency of operations while ensuring the achievement of quality standards and delivery under customer expectations.Ensure that issues regarding new/existing products are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner.Train, develop, mentor, and assist subordinates in all of the departments that fall within Molding operation.Monitor and drive optimization of the inventory of raw materials, molded components, IMMs, ancillary equipment, tooling, molds and components, operating supplies, and capital expenditures.Monitor and assist with the establishment of tool samples and design experiments for new and existing molds and new molded components, including NPI.Coordinate and manage the tooling demands and requirements for the manufacturing facility and support the molding operations.Coordinate and implement standard processes for tooling, molding, and process controls between company molding locations across divisions in alignment with corporate initiatives.Manage tooling and piece part cost for the company along with external vendor(s).Collaborate with staff to determine whether tooling and molded components should be manufactured in-house or procured from outside vendor(s).Lead project management of work taking place at outside vendors.Partner with MDE, Technology, Product Lines, and other divisional groups in the coordination and success of any new launches in the area of responsibility.Education. Bachelor of Science or MS Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Operations).Preferred a degree with emphasis in Plastic Injection Molding or related.Work Experience 10+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment related to Molding, tooling, and equipment maintenance, product development, and product introduction.5+ years of managerial experience with 3 years or more experience managing molding department(s) and/or tool room(s).
