Key Major Function
Finastra is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our amazing network team.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Network Engineering, this position is responsible for maintenance of Finastra's global network of data centers, cloud solutions and corporate locations.
This position will work with internal teams, management and vendors to delivery and maintain an enterprise grade network that will service our clients globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, monitor, and manage all network and data communications equipment including all hubs, routers, and switches, the intrusion detection systems, VPN concentrators, remote access server, and firewalls
- Provide ongoing monitoring of all networks and data communications facilities using approved network management tools and including monitoring access to Telecommunication carriers and managing the connection equipment
- Perform regular capacity planning to ensure network performance will meet anticipated requirements, monitor capacity, and work with carriers to adjust capacity as needed
- Responsible for internet access including installing, configuring, maintaining the router, proxy server and firewalls and monitoring performance
- Troubleshoot all network problems; open issue in the Problem and Change Management databases, record resolution; provide tier 2 support; ensure all issues are resolved as per published service levels or escalate
- Provide maintenance to equipment as required
- Maintain all technical configuration documents and review/update processes and procedures and maintain appropriate documentation
- Participate on project teams working with all Infrastructure teams or Network Architects; take high level plan developed by architects and develop a detailed plan by task
- On call 24 hours a day 7 days a week; on occasion will have to be at the office outside of normal working hours; occasional travel
Technical Skills
- Functional knowledge of networking and data communication fundamentals including Ethernet, and routing protocols
- Functional knowledge of internetworking standards
- Functional knowledge of network management tools
- Knowledge of OSI model
- Fundamental Networking principles (TCP/IP, Routing Protocols, etc)
