The Specialist, Occupational Hygiene is responsible for assessing operational risk related to occupational health and hygiene, and providing leadership that will enable the development and implementation of best practice occupational health and hygiene programs/strategies and achieving the required outcomes.Responsibilities:Develop, implement and review the H&S plan within the context of the Drainage Services business plan (including mission, vision, values, strategic positioning, operational plan and resource plan)Lead and advise management and employees to facilitate the implementation and administration of the Health and Safety Management System and to attain compliance with applicable legislation, policies and proceduresStrategically plan and identify the necessary budget requirements for the provision of occupational health and hygiene support to operations, as well as the acquisition and talent pool development of optimal human resourcesMaintain knowledge of current Health and Safety management practices, trends, and technologies by developing industry working relationships, participating in exchange groups, associations, and committees. Continuously monitor and bring forward ideas and best practices to reduce riskSupport of Corporate Health, Safety, Environment, Work Methods and Technical Training areaLead by demonstrating the required behaviors, attitudes, and mindset to deliver the goal of zero harm to our people and the environmentAnalyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure occupational health and hygiene objectives are achievedRequirements:8 -10 years of experience in Occupational Hygiene (dependent on education)Knowledge/experience with project management, risk analysis and the development of mitigation strategiesMaintains in good standing, designation as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), or Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT)Proficient in the use of hygiene monitoring equipment (dosimeters, sampling pumps, direct reading instruments, etc.), the interpretation of monitoring results, and consolidation of findings and recommendations in written reports that meet the needs of intended audiencesDemonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to conduct air, radiation and chemical monitoring, indoor air quality testing, ventilation assessments, noise assessments and surveys, document review and creation, training on chemicals and chemical exposures
