Job Overview: Oliver Wyman is adding an Associate Analyst to our Talent Analytics team. In this role you will provide analytical support related to our employee data (e.g., headcount, attrition, utilization, uptake of various firm programs/offerings) using tools such as Excel, Tableau, and SQL. This role requires hands-on analysis using various HC systems and analytical methods, and involves gaining a deep understanding of our firm's internal processes and structures. This is a demanding internal position within the Human Capital function in a fast-paced, professional services environment.
You will partner with others on the Talent Analytics team, the broader Data & Analytics team, and others throughout Human Capital and the firm, to provide visibility on our people data, design and deploy analytics models and visualizations in Tableau, and offer business insights to support strategic decisions. Our ideal candidate not only understands the technical side of Tableau but is passionate about the field of analytics where they can use their problem-solving skills and creativity to uncover the "why" and "so what" behind their analysis.
Key Responsibilities: Produce a high volume of Human Capital metrics and detailed analytics for use by firm leadership and other stakeholders; responding to numerous daily requests into our Talent Analytics shared inbox.Manage ongoing reporting needs and provide insightful analytics on data trends.Create new reporting that aligns with the changing demands of the firm.Apply statistical techniques and data-driven analysis to identify and solve complex business questions and identify actionable insights.Assist with the identification and deployment of efficiencies and enhancements in reporting and analytics.Assist with the development, training and support of the "analytics community" to ensure awareness and proficiency on tools and available data models.Experience Required: Degree in a quantitative discipline preferred, e.g., applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, information systems, econometrics, or related field.2+ years of experience in business analytics and business support functions, ideally in a professional services environment and/or working with HR data.2+ years of experience working with Tableau software to design, develop, and deploy business dashboards (Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server and Tableau Data Prep).Experience in managing/maintaining Tableau sites and projects ensuring a consistent design, deployment, and maintenance process is followed.Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.Experience with Python, SQL, or R preferred.Skills and Attributes: Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Ability to drive exploration and draw conclusions from multiple datasets.Ensure the highest of data integrity standards and attention-to-detail with deep quantitative and analytical skills to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.Strong spirit of innovation, self-starter, independent, and with ability to come up with solutions to meet business problems.Self-directed who can interpret data to understand trends and derive meaningful business insights.Self-motivated with ability to work independently while also enjoying collaboration with cross-functional teams and other analysts.Strong desire to learn new skills and pass knowledge acquired onto others.Strong relationship-building skills and ability to build alignment among internal customers and key stakeholders with demonstrated experience influencing without authority.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, highly dynamic atmosphere and react quickly to changes and shifting priorities.Effective communication skills (English fluency required) and ability to translate numbers into a story.Curious by nature, with interest in understanding how data is produced in our various underlying systems and how reporting and analytics content is compiled so that data can be turned into actionable business insights to support the firm's strategy.Ability to manage and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information, including demonstrated experience in this area.
