What you will doVolvo is building a new truck factory in Mexico and is looking for an IT operation manager to work on the construction project to implement the IT infrastructure and manage the operation afterward. The factory will start production in 2026, when you will build and manage the team supporting the IT operation and be responsible for the performance and availability of the plant. You are accountable for managing and optimizing the IT services delivered within your scope, driving standardization, and ensuring consistency of deliveries in your geographical area. You operate in a geographical context, having several interfaces to other Group IT units, the manufacturing organization, and IT stakeholders within Volvo Group.
The IOS Onsite Manager is responsible for the company's Information Technology (IT) activities to secure factory performance and uptime. The manager keeps the area's technological level up to date by conducting studies and implementing new procedures and techniques.

Volvo is building a new truck factory in Mexico and is looking for an IT operation manager to engage in the project to drive the infrastructure implementations and create a support team that you will manage during runtime. You will be responsible for functional performance, development, and deliverables. You are accountable for managing and optimizing the IT services delivered within your scope, driving standardization, and ensuring consistency of the on-site deliveries in your geographical area. You operate in a geographical context, having several interfaces to other IOS functions, Group IT units, the manufacturing organization, and IT stakeholders within Volvo Group.
The IOS Onsite Manager is responsible for the company's activities related to Information Technology (IT), including system definition, development, maintenance, and operation. The manager is also responsible for keeping the area's technological level up to date, conducting studies, and implementing new procedures and techniques. The IOS Onsite Manager is also responsible for selecting hardware, software, and supplies.
Your Future teamYou are responsible for building a team with the proper skills to support IT users and the fleet of computers, printers, phones, and other industrial devices. Your team manages the data centres and network components distributed in the factory. The team is responsible for the first line of defense for cybersecurity threats. The process and solutions are deployed closely with global teams, requiring communication skills and process orientation knowledge.
Core ResponsibilitiesCapture local Infrastructure demand (on behalf of all Volvo Group units).Responsibilities will also involve business stakeholders' relationship management, local accountability for processes and IT runtime management, and full responsibility for all ITS resources and deliveries.Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of IT systems, including servers, storage, network, databases, messaging, and collaboration platforms.Responsible for operating a mission-critical 24x7 IT infrastructure, including data center operations, WAN/LAN/Wireless networks, monitoring, and configuration tools.Recovery of applications and systems to enable the recovery of information.Manage service level agreements and produce metrics in support of results. Analyze results to identify trends and opportunities for continual improvement.Develop asset life cycle management, refresh plans, and adopt new technology. Produce and maintain accurate and detailed desktop lifecycle forecasts covering server, network, compute, and storage platforms.Ensure that continuous review and improvement are inherent throughout the Infrastructure Services team.Deliveries include:Management of IT disturbances with a focus on coordination, quality control, and continuous improvement.Desk-side support.First Level Application support of Global System Map applications driving warehouse operations.End-user request services.Support of one-time on-site deliveries.Required CompetenciesAs a manager, you will create an efficient and trustworthy day-to-day operation. You have proven leadership experience and excel in demonstrating core values according to the Volvo Core Habits. Since you are part of a regional unit with regional responsibilities, you must actively cooperate with various stakeholders and navigate easily in a multicultural environment. Education RequiredA bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Master's Degree and PMI certification is a plus.Experience RequiredMinimum of 2-7 years of experience and progressive experience in managing IT infrastructure and services, preferably for a manufacturing business.Experience with support and operations for IT infrastructure, including computing and storage (Linux and Wintel), network, application hosting, database, messaging, unified communications, and collaboration.Experience in the delivery of infrastructure services in a global organization.
