Applies standard engineering techniques, analysis, procedures and criteria in specific situations. Produces and correlates data. Recognizes discrepancies in results. Investigates problems, identifies optimal solutions, and makes preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Independently evaluates problems or opportunities, initiates required activities, identifies solutions, and applies standard engineering analysis tools to evaluate and select solutions. Normally would be considered the local expert for one or more specific project(s) or product(s).Essential Functions:Develop specific packaging plan to meet customer needs (returnable or expendable).Identify cost-effective solutions to product packaging requirements.Support Product Launch Program Managers on new product launches with respect to packaging.Develop specifications, requirements, and cost estimates on packaging.Estimate and manage capital requests for packaging materials & equipment within projects assigned.Coordinate manufacturing and operations input into the packaging plan.Provide expertise and support to Manufacturing Plant personnel on packaging development and revisions.Maintain packaging standards and master data for the organization.Train and guide internal logistics co-op.Knowledge:Knowledge of principles and theories of the engineering profession.Working product knowledge including handling guidelines.Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and knowledge of Six Sigma.Understanding of transportation modes and impact to packaging.Knowledge of customer packaging standards.Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supply chain or functional operations with focus on internal logistics or manufacturing required.Experience working with manufacturing and logistics.Skills:Excellent oral and written communication skills.Teamwork - Able to work in a diverse work group and in diverse work cultures.Project Management Skills - Organized management approach.Able to set priorities, identify risks and opportunities
