**P**o**s**i**t**i**o**n **S**u**mm**a**r**y**:
The packaging engineer is a professional engineer who will be in charge of leading packaging projects for the new products in the Harman plant.
He/she will execute the processes of design, validation and approvals of the packaging, as well as coordinate the implementation, usage and maintenance of those materials throughout the life of the project.
Under his / her charge all the packaging alternatives should be designed to provide protection to the products, proper handling and to be used for the shipments, all in accordance with the specifications and regulations of the customers.
This position includes the leading of the following areas: Customer packaging for new projects OEM and Packaging for EMS.
**S**u**p**e**rv**is**o**r**y R**e**s**p**o**ns**i**b**ili**t**i**e**s**:
- As a part of the supervisory responsibilities, if there is not an employee to attend the process, the direct boss will have to attend the process or assign the activities to another employee (with equal qualifications).
**Responsibilities**:
- Leading of packaging projects for new products, it includes external customers (Automotive), internal customers (other Harman Locations) and EMS supply.
- Coordinate the development and design of packaging proposals for new products, in accordance with the customer guidelines and the plant requirements.
- Tracking and provide the packaging (samples or pre-series) required for Customer events.
- Maintain an updated knowledge of the current OEM packaging guidelines.
- Assignation of strategic suppliers according Harman requirements, evaluation of alternatives looking for an option that offers competitive costs, tactical location for sourcing and quality.
- Review and approval of packaging drawings, creation of standards and specifications.
- Generate complete quotations for Customer packaging projects.
- Perform internal evaluations of packaging to make sure the feasibility of the proposal for the production plant.
- Conduct, apply, evaluation and knowledge of ASTM and ISTA norms, packaging standard tests to validate the proposals, making sure the protection of the product in the logistic chain.
- Generate and provide the RFQ required by different areas in Harman (CBU, PM, Finance, etc).
- Generate and update the loop calculation of packaging according the production volume and the logistic locations.
- Manage and getting of customer packaging approvals, providing information and samples as required by the client.
- Make the purchase of returnable packaging for OEM and EMS projects and ensure that the materials are received in the Plant.
- Manage of packaging portals for automotive customers.
- Creation of part number for new packaging materials in SAP.
- Coordinate the purchasing set up of new packaging part numbers in SAP.
- Generation and creation of Packaging Instructions in SAP, provide the information to add packaging materials in BOM.
- Manage and coordinate the first delivery of packaging of the new projects.
- Handling packaging changes ensure the correct implementation in production keeping communication internally and with the customer.
- Generate and provide packaging instructions through visual aids in plant to keep the packaging standards as were aligned with the customer.
- Perform and Lead saving projects in Plant.
- Development of new strategic suppliers according company requirements
- Support and provide guidelines for labeling of new projects
- Validation of packaging proposal from suppliers to receive raw materials in plant.
- Follow up and approvals of packaging for Components and EMS.
- Implementation of saving projects for raw materials (returnable packaging).
- And other activities assigned by Packaging Coordinator.

- Bachelor Degree on Industrial Engineer or Industrial Designer.
- Deep knowledge in packaging process and guidelines in automotive industry.
- Manage of Packaging Portals, Automotive Customers (GM, Chrysler, Audi, Ford, etc.).
- Knowledge in packaging norms ASTM and ISTA.
- 1+ years of experience in packaging standard tests (shipping test: Drop, Vibration, Impacts).
- 2+ years of prior experience coordinating new projects in packaging.
- 2 years of prior experience implementing Continuous Improvement and excellence Methods.
- English 90%, Advance English level (reading and writing that allow fluid presentations).
- Knowledge in technical drawings.
- Manage of software design (AutoCAD, Solid Works, CATIA, etc.)
