.**Job Description**:What You'll DoAs a Paint Shop Resident Engineer, you will manage and execute projects for the Paint Group. You will be responsible for the design, buildand installation of state-of-the-art paint systems. You will work with construction contractors that will install our equipment and tooling. Youwill also be responsible for the refurbishment and upgrade of existing equipment.Your work will involve developing project concepts and contracting professional services for engineering (when it is necessary). You will beidentifying long lead items for purchase such as equipment, facilities etc. You will purchase Machinery and Equipment (M&E) for the PaintShop. You will develop bid specifications, scopes of work and project schedules. You will utilize the GM Purchasing Bid & Award Process tosource purchase orders and will conduct technical bid reviews. You will write and submit purchase requisitions.Once the Purchase Order is issued you will meet with the manufacturers and monitor the engineering and fabrication. You will control designchanges utilizing the field order process to document changes in scope. Once on site, you will monitor the installation, schedule, andprogress. You will integrate the Machinery and Equipment (M&E) into the Paint Shop. You will oversee the start-up and debug of the systemsincluding integrating and getting the plants involvement. Finally, you will coordinate and support the functional and safety buyoffs (red, yellow,and green tag).Additional non-project related task will include providing a report out once a month at the Paint 4-Walls Meeting, completing the annual colortrials for new color introduction and the paint shop Durability Audits (2 times per year).You will be the primary contact between the plant and Vehicle Systems. At times you will be asked to provide timely information on equipmentfailures, breakdowns, and lost production at your plant. Also, you may be asked to collect data and information to support HQ surveys andstudies.**Additional Job Description**:**Required Qualifications**:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering- 5+ years experience specifying, commissioning or operating paint shop equipment and systems**Preferred Qualifications**:- Understanding of the entire paint process including PT/ED (pretreatment/Elpo), sealing, primer, and topcoat- You must have demonstrated the ability to work independently or with others as a member of a team- Ideally you would have some project management skills for planning and executing a project- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with medium level of autonomy and high accountability for results.- Demonstrate solid organization, planning and problem-solving skills.- Travel is requiredDiversity and inclusion are our strengths
